Safety tips for apartment living

I have recently downsized my home from independent house in one of the best suburbs for living into an apartment unit. There are some safety tips for apartment living.

Garage and storage areas are a target. Secure storage areas with quality locks.

Fire exists are a risk. Never leave doors unlocked or open.

Always lock up when you leave. Sliding doors and windows no matter what floor you live on.

Natural ladders are a risk. Don’t provide easy access to upper balconies, for example wheelie bins, lattice and trees.

Install deadlocks. Fit your main door with high quality deadlocks. Keep spare keys in a safe location but not visible.

Never buzz strangers into a building.

Secure the main entrance. Ensure that security systems are working and restrict access to residents only.

Garage tailgating is a risk. When driving into your garage area never let anyone follow you through the garage entry door.
